According to CCTV News, in accordance with the national laws and policies, as well as with the consent of the patient’s family, the autopsy of the first patient who died of new coronary pneumonia (COVID-19) in China was completed at Wuhan Jinyintan Hospital at 3 am on February 16. At 18:45 on the same day, the autopsy of the body of the second patient who died of new coronary pneumonia (COVID-19) was successfully completed in Jinyintan Hospital.

The two anatomic pathologies have been submitted for examination. The pathology of neocoronary pneumonia obtained from anatomy is of great help in exploring the clinical-pathological changes and disease mechanisms of patients with neocoronary pneumonia. The autopsies are likely to reveal the pathogenicity and lethality of neocoronary pneumonia, thereby providing a basis for future clinical treatment of critically ill patients.
